This is where the beginning of a great American tradition occurred — the crew found photos that the crew had taken down in the sub in Guam when the sub was decommissioned. The president of the United States, Richard Nixon, was there in Philadelphia to honor the crew and their accomplishment. During the visit, the US Navy dedicated the new San Diego Naval History Museum on the main deck of the ship. On the museum floor, a collection of submarine artifacts and a model of the USS Enterprise is on display, as well as the entrance to the submarine.
