Chakra Balance During Quarantine...

Updated: Oct 9, 2023

Hello Divine Beings,

During our time of quarantine due to unfortunate events happening world wide, I feel called to address our alignment. There have been many shifts spiritually, mentally, and physically during this time. Therefore, it can be very easy to lose focus on the balance we have acquired or seft forth to begin with. I am here to remind you that we will prevail as we take time to use this stillness to our advantage.

I’ll start talking about balance with a story first:

I believe that our divine force (God, or whatever you believe in)  has a very magical way of speaking through us and relaying messages for us to understand. Many times I’ve received these messages or callings  through creativity or meditation. Sometimes I lack the knowledge to understand what is going on until things are already set in place. I’ll explain what I mean by this...This week I decided to do a photoshoot based on an image I saw on Instagram. The instagram photo posted by the user @from_abidjan , an artist that I follow, has a captivating way of telling stories through photography.

In this specific image that inspired me, I loved how the artist used fruit to tell a story. As the viewer you had the power to perceive this image anyway you wanted too. I thought this was magnificent. I was determined to capture something close to this image I saw. During the shoot, I was so inspired that I started grabbing objects, thinking of new angles, and thinking of poses all because my mind was gravitated to creating a story. I didn’t know how these images would come out, the purpose of them, or the story behind them in full detail to be honest.

However, today as I found myself editing these images, the edits themselves made me understand what the story was in full detail. I changed everything about the image. Yes, the original photo was still inspiration but my creativity helped me to make it my own. This is when my “Aha” moment happened. I realized that I had worn orange, held oranges in my hand and was surrounded by orange energy. “Ahaha that’s it, this photoshoot’s purpose was to capture my sacral chakra awakening from its slumber. My chakra was gaining it’s balance back as I focused on my own creativity, my patience, and my joy!”

Now some of you may be confused on what the sacral chakra is or even a chakra in general for that matter. I’ll try to break it down for you the best way that I can and you’ll understand why my story matters…

According to the Chopra Center, “The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates to wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven main chakras, which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head. To visualize a chakra in the body, imagine a swirling wheel of energy where matter and consciousness meet. This invisible healing energy, called Prana, is a vital life force, which keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive.”

Although we focus on the seven main chakras that start from the base of the spine through the crown of the head, please be aware that we have multiple chakras beyond this. However, we will focus on the main seven chakras briefly today, and focus more time on the sacral chakra.

As divine beings we consist of so much energy. As we know “energy can only be transferred, it can not be destroyed.” With that in mind, we must focus on keeping these energies balanced, open, and aligned as that energy can transfer into physical, mental, and spiritual illness and ailments.

For example, if our sacral chakra also known as the”Svadhisthana” chakra is not aligned it can cause depression, self-doubt, addiction, sexual dysfunction, lack of creativity, lack of motivation etc. The sacral chakra is our creativity and sexual center. It is located above the pubic bone, below the navel, and is responsible for our creative expression The sacral chakra controls so much and oftentimes  may be overlooked. Many times people try to focus on opening their third eye or crown chakra. Through doing so, they forget that most wellness issues stem from our “gut” and our “gut can usually lead us to what's wrong. Yes this can be physical but also spiritual. When working with chakra alignment we must work from the ground up. We must set our foundation first.

Now that we understand the chakras a little better, I hope that you understand the correlation with these unfortunate times and our need to stay balanced. We must practice this balance so that we can create, feel joyful, be patient, and navigate our sexual energies during our societal pause. While we are home this is the best time to work on our selves. There are no more excuses of time, seeing that in this constructed concept of life we have more of it. Through practice and determination we can come out of this quarantine with a new energy flow and focus.

Down below I posted a photo of the seven chakra energies, that provide a good explanation to each chakra. Please take time to click on this picture, learn these chakras better as they are all individually important as well as together when balanced.

The more we focus on balancing these chakras we will have easier days as we will understand how to navigate through life better as the multi-dimensional layers that it is.

Our next questions lies, How do we balance our chakras?

Colors:

Wear colors  that represent the color chakra you are trying to work on. Colored clothing, jewelry, shoes, and accessories will help to remind you that you are actively working. These colors will also help to attract like vibrational energies.

Foods:

Eat nutrient rich foods (Fruits and Veggies) that have origin colors that match the colors of the chakras you are trying to work on. This will help balance your body energetically from the inside out.

Meditate:

Meditate  to help relieve tension and negative energy. This will help you gain focus on your intentions. As you begin to focus on stillness, breathwork, and ease you will allow your energy to repair itself to it’s originally balanced state.

Chakra Mantras:

You can use your own mantras or these historically practiced mantras listed below. These mantras carry a vibration specific to each chakra, creating a frequency of alignment and intentional awakening.

  • Root Chakra: Laahm

  • Sacral Chakra: Vaahm

  • Solar Plexus Chakra: Raahm

  • Heart Chakra: Yaahm

  • Throat Chakra: Haahm

  • Third eye Chakra: Ohmm

  • Crown Chakra: Contemplative silence.

Use Chakra Affirmations:

Affirmations are helpful in balancing chakras and opening blockages. These are good to say in the mirror, in the car, or somewhere public like the grocery store. No matter where you are, you can actively work on balance. You can make your own affirmations as it is purposeful to you or you can start with some examples I provided below:

  • “My root chakra is grounded, I am grounded.”

  • “My sacral chakra is joyful, I am creating, and I am patience”

  • “My solar plexus chakra is strong, I am confident, and I am powerful.”

  • “My heart chakra is loving, I am compassionate and I am secure”

  • “My throat chakra is balanced, I am clear, and I am expressive.”

  • “My third eye chakra is decalcified, I am intuitive and I am a visionary.”

Yoga:

Yoga is a very important practice when it comes to keeping our chakras aligned. As we use different poses, mantras, and breathing techniques together we are able to let our energy flow as one. This creates a streamline of balanced energy.
